Methodology
My education includes a degree in culinary arts, B.S. in Business Management, B.A in Consumer Science/Education and a Masters degree in Educational Technology. Additional education includes professional development workshops in educational and academic curriculum topics and professional training.
Background
My experience includes over ten years of classroom teaching for grades 4 through adult. Subjects I have taught full-time include math, language arts, foods/nutrition, career planning and development, reading and reading comprehension, study skills, and test preparation. I also offer private tutoring for students who need additional encouragement and prefer one-on-one instruction.

Karen has been working with my daughter in 2nd and 3rd grade math for a year and we’ve seen great improvement in her understanding of the concepts, her confidence and grades. Highly recommend!
Ms. Owen is a wonderful tutor. My daughter (8yrs) struggles with focusing and has a few behavioral issues which makes teaching her very difficult. Ms. Owen is able to keep her interested, motivated and most importantly focused. My daughter actually looks forward to her tutor day. I would highly recommend Ms. Owen.
