My teaching approach is to start broad, gauge the student's understanding, then work my way to the specifics by tying the narrow in with the broad concepts. If students are more visual, this may mean that I write things out for them. If students are more auditory learners, I may pull a khan academy and repeat things multiple times in many different ways while I write it out. Maybe students learn best when they write. In such case, I give the student the time they need to write everything down and repeat anything and reiterate topics where they are confused.
I am a biomedical engineering major who got a 33 on his ACT. I got a 33 in English, 35 in math, a 33 in reading, and a 30 in science. I have been doing some practice questions in science. I learned the importance of reading the graph in the science section, which helped raise my score from an official 30 in science to an unofficial 36. My last practice test I got a 35. The math section is easy once you learn how ACT tries to trick you. I learned in reading that the most important thing is to answer as many questions correct as possible. It's not a competition of how many questions you can answer in chronological order.
