For lessons in piano, we start from the beginning and focus a bit heavily on theory and technique. With that theory we can then apply it to piano playing, making learning the piano easier. For theory and history, we start at the beginning and go from there or start in different sections.
I am a pianist and pedagogue who teaches in the Deland and St. Augustine area. I have proficiency in Music Theory, from beginning to 21st century music and Schenkerian analysis, and Music History - both general music history and piano literature.
For levels of Theory IV (20th and 21st century techniques) and Schenkerian Analysis, the going rate is $45/hr.
Benjamin Crowder, born in St. Augustine, FL in 1997. He started to play the piano at the age of 13, under the tutelage of Mrs. Marilyn Boren and Mrs. Helen Beke-Morin before entering Stetson University, where he studied with Steinway Artist, Dr. Michael Rickman (Steinway Artist), and, Dr. Sean Kennard (Yale).
Crowder attended the Orfeo Music Festival in Italy (2017), where he attended masterclasses, performed, and collaborated with other musicians around the United States and Taiwan. Crowder has performed in Italy, The Philippines, Spain, and through Florida. As well, Crowder has collaborated with students at Stetson with world premieres and chamber groups.
Mr. Crowder graduated Stetson University with a Bachelors in Music Performance. He is currently a staff member of the Community School of Music at Stetson University and has private studios in DeLand, FL and St. Augustine, FL.
Crowder is an alumni off Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and the Stetson University Music Teachers National Association. Previously, he was in the Stetson University Concert Choir from 2017 to 2018, and, collaborator for the Stetson University Symphonic Band from 2017 to 2019 – touring around the greater Miami area and Tampa area. He also was an assistant in collaboration with the Stetson University Choral Union, performing Mozart’s Requiem, K.626.
