I base my instruction on the group of students I have. Because poetry and writing are broad topics with different meanings to everyone, I believe that creating a targeted curriculum following a student consultation is best for lesson-plan creation. I work with all ages with skill levels ranging from beginner to expert. I am excited to help students grow, find their voice and articulate their truths in a way that is not only meaningful, but impactful.
I am an award-winning poet/ spoken word artist with nine years of poetry writing experience. I was named the 2016 Oakland Youth Poet Laureate and given a resolution by the city for my use of words to evoke social change. I have been teaching small group poetry lessons for 5 years and served as a resident instructor for a quarter at Skyline High in Oakland,CA. After teaching at skyline, I was recruited by Stanford University to teach lessons, as well as several other small institutions. I am currently in the process of securing an after school teaching position in a local school district. I am a Junion in college majoring in Electrical Engineering.
24 hour cancellation is requested. If students cancel without prior communication they will still be billed for the lesson.
