About Scott

My teaching experience and 20 years of product design experience using Rhino will help you get up and running with real world examples.

I attended a top tier industrial design graduate program at RIT from which I received my MFA in 2000.

Upon graduation, I cut my teeth working as a designer for one of the world’s most influential designers, Michael Graves. While there, I designed products for Target, Dansk, Marshall Fields, and Delta Faucets among others. I gained experience in a broad range of categories that include housewares, electronics, furniture, soft goods, tabletop, and faucets, etc.

I started my own design practice in 2006 in Philadelphia, focusing mainly on housewares and consumer electronics. Clients include Fred and Friends (Owned by Lifetime Brands), Dansk (Owned by Lenox), Fresco Housewares, and PHAZ Music. In the last decade, I have lived and worked in Philadelphia, New York City and Birmingham, Alabama. I currently reside in Pittsburgh PA.

I've taught Rhino at the college level. I also have 22 years of experience as a user. We can start where you are at with a project of your choice or I can use my curriculum which works from simple to more advanced examples.

Typical lesson plan might be designing an arcade cabinet start to finish or designing a kitchen tool.

I bring my real world product design knowledge into your class.

I also help startups DIY their own product development. I can tutor CAD, managing projects with factories, etc.
