Beginner Piano and Flute Lessons For All Ages

I will teach the foundations of western music beginning with classical and classics without leaving out the more immediate pleasures of playing modern pieces. Flutists will enjoy duets!
Beginners of all ages will learn foundational music theory and receive ear training in the form of games, hand/finger/chord positions, (for flautists) embouchure, breath, dynamics, and finally, articulation. I grew up on the Robert Pace Method but utilize the newer variations and utilize only kindness, games, and patience to achieve the best in everyone. Learning can be hard, but expressing yourself through your art is the ultimate. It takes time, so you've got to begin right on the ground level to build a great foundation that will last a lifetime as well as carry you on to an intermediate and advanced level of proficiency.

Lessons:
Split between homework/practice techniques/performance and theory.
We will use one book for performance pieces and one book for music theory.
The student will need a staff book, which can be obtained in any music store or online and may purchase the books after deciding to continue to lesson two.
*This is a foundation course, but if a "family and Friends" recital is desired, we can absolutely focus on a list of performance pieces for beginners to master that can be performed via Zoom or any other possible means. A goal is always a great motivator.
Master the mechanics of playing and practicing and begin to understand music theory as it relates to performance and writing to fully express your heart AND your art.

My teaching approach is to use two methods simultaneously. The student will learn from a book of pieces to learn to perform as well as from a book of music theory so the learner understands what he/she is doing and can replicate it in any key without music. I do not teach by rote.
