I'm a former small college biology and biochemistry professor and medical school microbiology instructor. My PhD is in microbiology and immunology with a minor in pharmacology/biochemistry. My teaching style is collaborative and focuses on basic principles that unify many concepts and allow students to understand rather than just memorize.
My teaching experience spans over 10 years and in excess of 750 students. My students have traditionally done very well on standardized exams in their subject area and express satisfaction with the rate of progress that they make and the level of understanding that they accomplish.
I have a bachelor's degree in biology and a PhD in microbiology and immunology with minors in biochemistry and pharmacology. While at the Indiana University School of Medicine, I received the Harold Raidt graduate instructor of the year award. I've worked in the sciences in academic medical centers such as Duke and in the pharmaceutical and clinical research arenas for approaching 20 years.
