My teaching approach is to first get to know who my students are as well as what they need, how they learn, and their experiences, successes and failures in science. Only then can I develop a plan and materials that will be appropriate for them that will result in success. I cannot and will not do the work for the student, but will enable them to be successful in learning given they put the time and effort to implement my suggestions.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology Pre-med from Baylor and a Masters degree in Education from Tarleton State University. I have been in education for 18 years, teaching nearly every offered science course from 6th to 12th grade. I am also an experienced math & science facilitator, science specialist and administrator. Teaching science and lighting the fire of scientific curiosity is my passion. I have worked with students of all levels, abilities, and backgrounds.
Mrs. Cobb was my high school biology and biomedical sciences instructor. She was that one teacher who went above and beyond in making sure that you learned the material and that you were interested in learning the material. She helped me do well and checked up on me even when I was hospitalized with cancer. With her help I passed the AP biology exam without even having taken the class and was accepted into an early college acceptance program. Her teaching style is reactive, adapting to student needs as they change and planning accordingly. She’s, I mean yeah, she’s the best obviously. 10/10 would recommend.
I have known Mrs cobb throughout my high school career as a Biology and Biomedical student. I am very lucky to have had such an amazing teacher like her.
She is kind, encouraging, and patient, always guiding her students to success. I was never a strong student when it came to science but, through her, I developed a love for it. She would break down difficult concepts and make them easier to understand using multiple methods. She would make everything simple to understand using different activities. Such as diagrams, acronyms, and many hands-on activities online and in class. Through Mrs.Cobb, I felt comfortable enough to continue pursuing science beyond my high school years and now pursue it in college. With Mrs. Cobb's tutoring, I was able to do well on every one of my tests.
I recommend her to every student. She has many ways to teach a student which never allows you to tire of the subject. She always tied in different subjects with science. We did art, writing, experiments, all related to the subject she was teaching. This never left room for boredom. I did not just memorize the information and forget. It became second nature to know the information and apply it. Because of her teaching methods, I am able to recall information easier and apply it to my college classes. Mrs. Cobb is a Superprof in every way.
Lisa was able to help me learn the material when the teacher gave up on me. because of her tutoring, I felt confidence in myself that I could handle the material of that specific course and anything else life threw at me. Thank you for giving me the life-long tools to get my MD.
I have known Lisa for 5-6 years as her student. She is one of the most knowledgeable, friendly, and genuine person I know. As a teacher, Lisa went above and beyond in every class she taught. Not only does she have a vast amount of information to relay to students, she is very easy to talk to. Taking lessons from Lisa will leave your mind full of everything you asked for and more.
