While it isn't as popular as studying business, which is considered the most popular bachelor's degree to study in the United States, engineering is certainly up there in terms of the number of students who decide to study the college major in the United States.
That is for a really good reason, one of the main reasons that young people and those who are about to enter into a college or university choose a certain major is to help them find a career to make money.

When we talk about doing well in math classes, we can take that piece of advice and bring it a step further.

If you can take AP classes, like AP calculus for example, and AP computer science, and you do well enough during the course and on the AP exam, you could even earn college credits.
AP classes are designed to be a semester of college-level work, so if you can do it you will have a lot of confidence, be prepared for college, and make your high school resume look really good.
Do plenty of extracurricular activities
To get into a top university in the United States, it is always a really good idea to have a great high school resume to show the admissions board.
Let's say you have great grades in math, including in advanced classes, and even in the rest of your classes including your history classes, your science classes, and whatever else you have studied during your four years in high school.
To be honest, if you have the confidence that you are going to get into the best university for engineering in the United States or one of the best universities, everyone you are "competing" against will also have excellent grades.
