Let's go

What you should consider before looking for a university.

Before we get to discussing the best business schools, science schools, and more around the country it is important to think about things other than academics.

Many universities look amazing on paper or on social media, as the universities are of course advertising themselves to you, they all look good, and if they have a reputation for being one of the best schools in the country for a specific field of study, or one of the best schools, period, then even better.

There are other things that you probably have to think about.

Economic factors

In the United States, the cost of a university will be a huge factor in your decision to go there or not. If you have a scholarship where part or all of your tuition is paid for, or your family is very rich, you won't have much of a problem.

If you don't have one of these things, and the university you want to go to has expensive tuition, you will have to really consider if going to this school is worth it. Apart from the tuition, if you need living arrangements that is another large amount of money apart from the tuition.

Of course, very few things are more valuable than a university education, however, there are many other university choices if you feel that the cost of the university that you are thinking about will be too much for you to handle now or in the future.

Distance from home

This is another choice that you will have to think about, maybe you get a full ride to Harvard, but you live really close to there and don't want to study too close to home, you should think about another top school that is further away so you can have the going away college experience.

Perhaps you feel the opposite, a school you really like is far away from home, but you want to live at home or live near home.

You should then, of course, consider the top universities in your area.

Choosing a top university for your field of study

While you may get into what is considered the best all-around university in the country, it may be better for you to choose the best or one of the best that is best for the field of study you want to learn.

If you want to learn the law, for example, there are some universities that are especially famous for producing the best lawyers in the country, and you should look at those universities first and foremost.

Best universities for arts

Now we can finally get to discussing, the best universities for a given field of study. Let's look at the best universities around the country for the arts.

The world of art in the United States has become much more professionalized, therefore getting a fine arts degree will be important if you see yourself working in the arts in the future, whether as an actor, painter, working on a film or television set, or even as an art teacher.

So what are some of the best universities to get a fine arts degree in the United States?

  • Yale University
  • Rutgers University
  • Bard College
  • Maryland Institute College of Art
  • Virginia Commonwealth University

These are just some of the best universities and colleges when it comes to art. Then of course you have to look at what exactly it is that you want to learn as an art student, some of these universities specialize in sculpting, and others specialize in graphic design.
