My teaching method is student- centered. I like to make sure that the student is actively learning and never gets bored or unsure in a lesson. I base my classes on building a foundation on the topic and then continuously growing on that. I like to make sure there is always a clear understanding of what we’re doing and to make sure that the student is comfortable with the lesson.
I am a business student at the McCombs school of business at The University of Texas at Austin. I’ve been giving tutoring lessons for about 3 years. I’ve mainly taught to 9th-11th graders but do have experience with math basics for 2nd and 3rd graders as well.
Devonniah was a peer of mine in high school. I was a freshman taking algebra 2 and we had the same teacher. I didn't really understand what our teacher said most of the time, and was going to flunk the class. She told me tutored after school on certain days and that I was welcome to join the group she tutored. At first, I thought it was just going to be a couple of kids, but it was like 10 people in there! Then when I saw that, I was sort of discourage but as the session went on, she never made me feel like I wasn't included and she even went over certain topics multiple times to make sure everyone understood. Complex terms that we didn't understand, she could explain it on our level. I ended up attending her sessions every week and by the end of the school year, I had a B average. I loved having her as a tutor.
