STEM can be really difficult for kids to wrap their heads around, and that doesn't help with the misconceptions that STEM is hard and that they will never be able to do it. That's simply not true! Doing a lot of STEM fairs for younger kids showed me how true that was. Seeing shy kids break out of their shell when they got to do hands on activities with digestible ideas inspired me to tutor.
I'm a freshman at Carnegie Mellon University studying Materials Science and Engineering. I love all subjects in STEM and hope to pass that love to kids that I tutor. I attended the Magnet Science, Mathematics and Computer Science program at Montgomery Blair High School. The math courses I have taken have been magnet classes that go beyond AP level courses, whether those courses are statistics, precalculus, BC/AB calculus, or multivariate calculus. Math is a very elegant and fun subject, and getting to share that with kids who are just starting out on their math journey brings a lot of joy to me.
I have a good amount of chemistry as well - my major is very chemistry focused, and I have done chemistry research under a professor at MIT for an internship. I helped at chemistry academic support for all chemistry classes at my high school, as well as helped underclassmen with magnet chemistry courses.
