My teaching approach is designed to put the student in contact with their personal wisdom. It is my view that the role of a yoga instructor should be to facilitate a safe environment for the student to explore their relationship with their own body, mind and spirit. My highest priority when teaching is to guide the student while emphasizing that the flow I am teaching is only a suggestion. The yoga student should always feel free to use their practice time as they see fit for themselves. I am merely holding space for that.
Cosima Ritter is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS) in 2018. Her mother fostered an early love of yoga and expression through movement and she has been actively practicing yoga since the age of 15. Since receiving her training she has primarily taught close friends and family, along with pay what you can community classes. Her style of teaching is simple and accessible to all, applying the theories of yogic philosophy in ways that are easy to understand and apply. She is adamant about creating a space of consent and sovereignty, with the recognition that we must subvert systems of hierarchy both on and off the mat. This translates into a style of instruction that puts great emphasis on the personal authority of each practitioner. No one knows anyone else's bodies better than oneself, and this is an important pillar to her values as an instructor. Cosima provides a class that aims to put people in contact with their inner wisdom and the inner map of their own destiny.
I have taken virtual Yoga instruction from Cosima four times in the recent past and I am highly impressed with her teaching abilities. Her explanations are very clear, the rhythm and flow are relaxing yet challenging and her personality is engaging and focused. My body felt worked over with some soreness in my glutes, abdomen and thighs the next day.
She exhibits knowledge in the Building up of the Flow as well as yoga philosophy.
She is altogether a wonderfully-rounded instructor whom I recommend highly!
Cosima is one of the most sensitive, inspiring, and patient instructors I have ever had the chance to work with. She has been my private instructor for over a year and since then has completely reshaped how I relate to my physical mobility. I had never given yoga a consistent schedule but with Cosima’s patience and gratitude we developed a practice I was able to seamlessly incorporate into a busy, six-day work week. I can’t recommend her enough as a teacher and would suggest enrolling in one of her programs as soon as possible!
Cosima moves through her lessons with knowledge and sensitivity, giving special attention to proper alignment, breath, and the individual needs of each student. I’ve experienced her classes first-hand during quarantine and they always left me feeling both relaxed, clear headed, and strong. Strongly recommend!!!
