I work with highly motivated students (from middle school to graduate school) challenged by writing assignments, literature classes, and standardized tests (PSAT, SAT, ACT, MAPS, and TOEFL). I provide instruction tailored to each individual, prepare customized worksheets and assignments, and tutor via Skype or in-person.
I have tutored 10-20 hours per week since 2010, have worked with over 100 MBA students (most of whom were born outside the U.S.), and have guided dozens of middle and high school students. I also teach at a Chinese-American community school (SAT and ACT prep) and work as a part-time librarian. I have helped several high school students ace the all-important Chicago Public Schools Selective Enrollment High School Exam for admission to the city's top schools, and can also tutor for the SSAT and ISEE private-school exams.

I have a B.A. in English and a Masters in Library Science. My understanding of writing techniques has been sharpened by years of corporate experience (PR, corporate communications, and video-based instruction) for such companies as Chase Bank. I am deeply immersed in the structure of good writing and its core elements (grammar and vocabulary), and I demonstrate how they can be used to inform, educate, or persuade readers.
I have worked with Paul as a co tutor for over five years. Paul focuses on reading and language arts skills while I work on math. Prior to that I have been friend with Paul and his wife another ten years for a total of 15. Paul manages to be a gifted teacher bringing competence, respect, creativity and understanding to each of his students. Everyone of his students has made gains on their tests (ACT, SAT) or were successful in gaining admission to a selective program.
Mr. Foxworth helped my daughter multiple times with writing and editing application essays for high school and then college. He took his time to recognize her strengths and weaknesses to personalize his teaching process. My daughter Hanna was comfortable with openly talking about the subject areas with Mr. Foxworth knowing that he is understanding and respectful. Her essays went from being good to exceptional after working with him. I am definitely looking foreword to working with Paul again with my younger son when the need comes. I highly recommend him as a tutor/teacher.
Paul has tutored two of my children. My oldest son was tutored for ACT prep and greatly improved his score in English and writing - the portions that needed improvement. He secured the score he was looking for with Paul's help. During his senior year of high school Paul help him with his college applications and essays. Paul's guidance and support were so helpful and greatly reduced stress for me and my son!
Recently I needed Paul's services again with help tutoring my 8th grade daughter for the Selective Enrollment exam for CPS high school. She enjoyed working with Paul and her confidence going in to testing was greatly improved with Paul's help.
Paul has been tutoring my daughter, age 13, for about two years in Social Studies and Language Arts. He is very knowledge in those subjects and very accommodating to busy schedules of student and parents. We are very pleased with his work and how our daughter is learning under his coaching. We highly recommend Paul if you are looking for a tutor in these subjects.
