My name is Cynthia Ley and I am a recent graduate of Chapman University. I majored in Music Performance for the Clarinet though I also am competitively trained for the piano. I can teach beginner students to high school students for private lessons which include technique work, theory studies, and learning repertoire based on each student's skill level. I can teach in 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes and lessons can take place at my home or at the student's home. Currently, I also work as a clarinet coach for Stanley Middle School in Lafayette, CA.
At my time in college, I was coaching two beginning students on the clarinet. One was a 5th grader, and the other was a 7th grader. I've also helped the occasional college student in practicing the required music for my college's wind symphony. Currently, I volunteer at Stanley Middle School in Lafayette, CA as a clarinet coach. I work with middle school students individually, as a group, and I also lead the bands occasionally.
30 minute lessons will be charged at $30, 45 minute lessons will be charged at $45, and 1 hour lessons will be at $60.
I graduated from Chapman University with a Bachelor's in Music: Music Performance with Instrumental Emphasis- Clarinet. I have played the piano for 19 years and the clarinet for 13 years. For the piano, I have received multiple awards from the Contra Costa Music Teacher's Association of California for the Sonata Contest and I have passed all 10 levels of the Certificate of Merit Program. For the clarinet, I have done international performances with the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra in the UK and for their debut concert at the Walt Disney Music Hall in LA. Currently, I am a volunteer music coach at Stanley Middle School in Lafayette, CA.
