Céili has been teaching private lessons to students of all ages and musical backgrounds for about 10 years, and currently teaches at the college level at the Community College of Rhode Island. She has taught all styles, drawing from her classical training and music education background to improve technique and musical understanding that benefits all levels and styles. From beginner to advanced levels, she uses a variety of teaching methods to create a personalized lesson to fit the needs of the student. With a background in the Suzuki method, she has experience launching young students into guitar playing in a fun and effective way, while incorporating learning notation and music theory where appropriate. She is accepting a limited amount of students in the Boston area.
Céili Connors is an Boston based performer, teacher, and artistic administrator who is actively performing both as a soloist and chamber musician. She received her Masters degree in classical guitar performance at the New England Conservatory of music in Boston under the instruction of Eliot Fisk. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Music in classical guitar performance. She has appeared on stages all across New England such as Jordan Hall, as well as internationally in numerous cities including London, Granada, Salzburg, and been involved in a number of festivals across New England.
Céili has established a growing studio in Massachusetts in addition to her college teaching, while maintaining administrative positions within institutions such as New England Conservatory, and acting as Director of Operations at Boston Guitarfest. She has been teaching privately for about 10 years, as well as group lessons and coaching ensembles and chamber groups.
Céili is also dedicated to integrating music within the community whenever possible by serving on the Guitar Guild board in Rhode Island. She has a history of collaborating with local musicians for fundraising events, and and been a part of many ensembles including Updike’s Rose, the North Kingstown Guitar Dojo, West Bay Guitar Ensemble, URI Guitar Ensemble, and several other chamber groups in Boston as well. She also spent some time studying and living in Granada, Spain, where she attended the University of Granada, and studied flamenco and Spanish guitar.
Beginning her studies at the age of 8, Céili's primary instructors have been Joseph Smith, John Dennewitz, Adam Levin, and Eliot Fisk. She has also performed for masters such as Leo Brouwer, Jose Caballero, Rene Izquierdo, Bruce Holzman, Grisha Goryachev, Enrique Salmeron, Adam Holzman, Jesus Serrano, David Leisner, Thomas Novak, the Borromeo String Quartet and many others.
