My teaching method is very hands on. With music, people learn by doing, and by understanding how things work. The problem with modern music education is that students are taught how to read the music and how to play the instrument, but they are not taught the theory behind the music they play. I believe this is an important aspect that should not be ignored. I also believe that students should have an individualized learning path in order for them to achieve the best results.
I am a classical musician who has been involved with music for the past 19 years. I have a degree in Music with my primary study in Flute, and am working on another degree in Music Education with my primary study in voice.
My secondary instruments include saxophone, ukulele, piano, and guitar. I enjoy teaching music theory as well as instruments and voice, even when it is starting with how to read music.
Experience: Orchestras, symphonic bands, jazz band, marching bands, concert choirs, show choir, chamber choir, quartets, and pit orchestras for musicals.
