I base my teaching methods not by a fixed system, but on what unique methods would best benefit the student. I have studied with many teachers on many different instruments in the realms of classical, jazz, and folk in order to synthesize their teaching approaches into my own practice. I am also constantly studying technique methods and books, and I am familiar with teaching sheet music as well as teaching without sheet music in a way that strengthens aural skills and freedom of expression. I am familiar with a wide range of solo repertoire, and I have access to a studio for concerts so that students can also develop performance experience. I can teach a beginner student of any age to an intermediate player that is in high school or preparing for college auditions.
I am a violinist with teaching experience in private lessons, music outreach, and after-school music programs since 2016. My students have gone on to be accepted into future music programs and have successful auditions. My performance experience is in symphony orchestras, string quartets, operas, musicals, and folk ensembles. I have completed 4 years of a Violin Performance Bachelor’s degree in Oklahoma, which included a semester of study in Norway with a focus on traditional music and ethnomusicology. I am passionate about teaching and retaining a diverse background so that I may offer the right teaching style and musical approach to each of my students.
