College professor in Southeast TN liberal arts gives lessons in humanities, philosophy, English literature and grammar

Methodology

I currently teach college courses in philosophy, humanities, and literature. I approach teaching through both lecture and discussion as well as close readings of the text. I ask students to be able to summarize in their own words what they have read as well as reflect and critique the reading.

Background

I have been teaching for 9 years at the college level in a variety of settings and a variety of students, from dual enrolled high school students to adult learners returning to school. Students leave my class armed with new ways to approach old questions and an understanding that we are all connected in this quest for learning.
