I am a sophomore in college with a huge passion for the written arts. I have loved reading and analysis and writing for as long as I could remember. I like to teach by asking questions that guide students to find the answers themselves. Furthermore, I love helping students learn the right questions to ask so they can also learn to teach themselves. Additionally I find it valuable to go over incorrect answers to discover why they are the wrong answer. This guides logic and analysis on further questions regarding literature. I am looking to work with students in middle school/junior high and high school.
I have taught students in a volunteer classroom for approximately five years. When an upperclassmen in high school I volunteered as a tutor in math and writing subjects to sophomores in a college preparatory class. The students I have taught have been able to learn how to critically think about a variety of problems in order to find their own answers with minimal guidance. As a result, they have seen grades improve and their efforts towards school increase.
For students that are further than 15 miles, an additional $5 will be charged for travel.
I have obtained a high school diploma, and am in my sophomore year of college working on a business degree. I have received the AP Honors Scholar award two years in a row and was awarded the President's Scholarship Award at my college; one of three students of my entire incoming class. I have joined a fellowship club on campus, which involves economic studies and written petitions to Congress with a recommendation from my Academic Dean.
She is very good at breaking down complex issues and presenting them in a way that makes sense. If she doesn't understand something, she won't spout off what comes to mind, she will do her research and get back to you on it in a reasonbable manner. Beyond that, I think that patience is one of the most important qualities of teaching, and Sarenna seems to have endless patience in any matter. I have known her for over 6 years now, and through countless interactions she has never been any less than a sweet and kind person.
Sarenna is a hard worker who strives daily to demonstrate integrity in academics, personal/professional relationships, and day-to-day activities. She knows how to match tutoring methods to the student with whom she is working and acknowledges the immense variety of learning styles.
She is extremely intelligent and has a drive to help those who want to learn. Effectively uses what she knows to teach others.
