My pedagogy is based off of my late piano professor, Jacqueline Salas, whose emphasis on musicality was a decisive element in bettering performance. After going through the fingering and technique required for a particular piece, as well as an initial play through, an analysis will be conducted from a musical and cultural standpoint.
Great interpretation not only comes from being proficient at one's instrument, but also from one's understanding of their world and their sensibilities. Music being as intuitive as it is, is subject to many different interpretations, many of which are beautiful and valid in their own right. Let's find yours.
I have been playing the piano for 20+ years. I studied Composition and Jazz Piano at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, France. My main teacher on the Piano was the late professor Jacqueline Salas, who studied with Adele Marcus at Julliard and Claudio Arrau.
As a composer I have written orchestral, chamber, and solo works in the insturmental field, Jazz works, Latin, and rock'n'roll. In Music Theory I am engaged in western music analysis and ethnomusicology. I am currently writing my second research paper on blues music.
