Concert violinist recently Suzuki Book 1 (and soon Book 2) Certified teaching online during COVID-19

Methodology

As a student in my studio, you will feel supported and gently challenged. I teach slightly modified Suzuki which I believe gives a student incredible structure but also leaves room for different learning styles. I will teach you how to read music while at the same time encouraging the development of your individual artistic ear by listening to a special piece each week of your choosing. I will always have you sing your piece for me before we can work on it together on the violin. It may sound scary, but singing a piece has an incredible impact on how well-in-tune you play. Some of the best music ever composed was written for the violin, and I hope my students feel fulfilled in being able to play that music! During COVID, I will be teaching virtually via Zoom or Facetime. Of course, this is not optimal, but health and safety during this time is an absolute priority.

Background

My name is Francesca, and I am a professional violinist. I have over twenty years of experience as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. I received my Bachelor of Music Degree in violin performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music where I studied with Joel Smirnoff, Jaime Laredo, and Jinjoo Cho, and I received my Masters Degree from Rice Univeristy's Shepherd School of Music where I studied with Paul Kantor. My orchestral and chamber music experiences have allowed me to travel to Europe and Asia, and I have performed in Carnegie Hall, Symphony Hall, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. I have played under some of the greatest conductors including Andris Nelsons and Herbert Blomstedt as a Tanglewood Music Center fellow. I am recently certified in the Suzuki Violin Method Book I, and I will soon be certified in Book II. I have taught private students throughout my life and sincerely enjoy teaching students of all levels.
