My teaching method is individually suited to the needs of each student. I am happy to teach all levels, from beginner to advanced. My focus is to communicate techniques and good craftsmanship that can be applied to future projects. I am very patient, and will work with you to bring a project you'd like to make to life. Good first projects include skirts, bags, pillowcases and aprons.
I'm a costume designer and artist, and have spent the last 3 years working in the film industry in NYC. I studied Costume Design at SUNY Purchase, and hold a BFA in Costume Design from their Design/Technology Conservatory. I began my career costuming for dance, and have built tutus, costumes for theatrical plays and fashion items for individual clients. I can teach pattern drafting and draping, as well as basic sewing by hand and machine. I studied under Andrew Lattimore at his Atelier, and have experience in live figure drawing and cast drawing, as well as watercolor and other media for costume and fashion rendering/illustration.
