As a child I never realized my passion for writing, creating, and putting words to paper. However, I used to love to read & still do. As a writer it is important to read as much as you can. I enjoy it anyway. My techniques all depend on each individual student. I learn the student first, then get a better feel for what they're needing assistance with. I take this information & compile a plan to ensure the student's best possible outcome. Maybe even help them realize a strength they didn't know they had. I already have a love for learning, and a love to see other people find their passions & strengths. So this is the perfect opportunity for me to to do just that
I have worked as a Teaching Assistant in various elementary, middle, & high schools since 2014, as well as assisted students on campus while attending UW-Milwaukee. I have a love for learning and I love to help each student find their niche when it comes to not only what they learn but how they learn. I believe that these are ingredients to being a successful student. I have also worked one-on-one with students with ADD & Asperger's (I have ADD myself) so I understand the various complexities & hurdles to learning that can come with it.
I also started a group while in Milwaukee for middle school age students on up that was mirrored off the national organization/movement called "Freedom Writers". I helped those who always had a passion/curiosity for writing but never knew how to get started. Or maybe they had gotten started but felt stuck-not knowing what to do next. That is where I came in to help them "take off".
Fees listed are base rate of $20/hr. Additional fees may include for things like travel time, or extended hours/tasks required to assist the student.
I graduated from Craig High School in Janesville with my High School diploma.
I graduated from UW-Rock County with my Associates Degree
I attended UW-MIlwaukee for my Bachelors in Psychology but ran out of financial aid with only 26 credits left. I took a variety of classes in the areas of Psychology, Sociology, African-American Studies, Public Speaking, Oral & Written Communications, History, etc.
I also have a variety of blogs, and a few pages on Facebook that I am active with. I also run 3 writers groups on Facebook; 1 for writers with ADD/ADHD, 1 for writers in the Midwest, and 1 for Child writers. I guess you could say it's a true passion.
