About the lesson

i teach so i can learn. When workshop begins the instructor initiates class with a writing prompt. a. I provide the prompt: THE HOW OF WORKSHOPPING. b. student author reads work aloud if moved. c. (if time permits) another student reads from her/his work aloud so other poets present, can hear their work read by another voice through the sensibilities of peers, invaluable when revision begins. d. verbal critique to include likes and dislikes discovering what words and literary tools work in their poems.
(All critique will proceed in the spirit of constructive commentary by peers. e. Instructor then, verbally critiques the work. (The instructor will provide written critique at that time and the instructor will read, at least twice, the poem presented and provide commentary on the student's work available for the next time the workshop gathers. Peers also take copies off these assigned poems of the students who presented and
provide written critique also. Students are encouraged to revise their work considering this ample feedback. Instructor assigns tasks and provides prompts for homework.
