I'm a firm believer in striving to be a complete musician and that is what I try to offer my students. Some of those concepts include notation reading, aural training, and music theory. I have a very practical approach to learning and teaching music and with diligence and some effort, you will learn a deeper aspect of music. I also believe that music should be for everyone and should be enjoyed by everyone. As such, I accept all ages and skill levels. If you are an aspiring new musician or a seasoned aficionado, and there is anything I can help you with, I would love to do so. The only requirement I ask for is that you come with an open mind and heart for learning about music. From my experience teaching, those curious about learning something new will always get the most out of it so come with a desire to learn and hopefully I can accommodate what you need.
I'm a current graduate student studying for an M.M in Composition at Azusa Pacific University. I received an assistantship for the program by playing tuba and am also a teacher's assistant for aural training for the undergraduate students. I am the composition teacher for the music and technology class at the Azusa Conservatory which is an outreach program intended to introduce students to music. I am also the applied tuba instructor for that program. I also work for the School of Music as their senior music librarian. My duties include scanning, cataloging, labeling and distributing music to the school's ensembles. I currently hold a B.M. in Composition and Tuba Performance from Azusa Pacific University. I have been a freelance musician on and off for about seven years and am willing to talk about my experiences in the profession so far. I also play electric and upright bass.
