Even though I have not been a “teacher” in the past, I have tutored a number of people in my time and have even coached a high school basketball team. I am definitely someone who comes up with any and all ways to make complicated topics (I.e. pathways, mechanisms, etc.) relatable to real-life scenarios. I like to take difficult subjects and put them into simpler terms as if I were speaking to an audience with no knowledge of my area of study. I can adapt to anyone’s study habits and then apply my tricks to (hopefully) make things easier to understand! I am definitely an outliner and a multiple pen kind of girl. It’s much easier to visualize when trying to recall information during an exam!
I am currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy (Medicinal and Natural Products Chemistry) where I will obtain my PhD in a few more years. I spent my undergraduate career focused primarily on the biological side of the life sciences and also have a background in chemistry! I played basketball during my undergrad and completed my degree in three years! Not knowing that would happen, I spent a year working at Walt Disney World and LOVED it. I also spent time working at UPMC (a hospital in Pittsburgh, PA) as a research assistant studying the opioid epidemic that has plagued the United States. I have a very strong background in biology and really want to help future students excel in a career in the life sciences!
