My teaching methods use all of my experience and success with teaching Newcomers to read and speak English at a very competent level. Several of my students at the grade-school level have progressed two or three grade levels in one academic year. The emphasis is on meeting the students' needs on an individual basis. Each person has strengths and weaknesses. Finding out what each of these are is essential to getting the progress that each students seeks. Students will be excited with their results and eager to always learn more. Individual attention and guidance will assure students that they are headed in the right direction towards their goals.
My ESL teaching experience has stemmed from my interest in many different cultures and languages. While pursuing my teaching license, I worked as a substitute teacher in the public school system with many different nationalities and age groups. I found my true calling by mixing my love of English with my intense desire to teach it to those that seek it. It is so wonderful when you see a student of yours progress from no reading ability of any kind, to reading, writing and speaking English at grade levels above their enrollment.
I have taught children from Kindergarten to High School. I enjoy teaching Reading most of all, but found that through my studies of Phonics, speaking and writing are equally important to really understand the language that one is learning. I have my own method of teaching reading and writing that is easy to understand and learn. We start where your level of understanding is, right now, and progress at your pace to make certain that all aspects of the academic requirements are fulfilled.
I would love to have the opportunity to teach adults to read and write English if there is a need!!!
