Drummer with 20 years experience and NYU master's degree gives lessons in New Jersey
Methodology
I start teaching drums by beginning with the fundamentals. I began all my students on the snare drum to insure proper technique is developed. Throughout lessons I record all the playing and talking so the student can hear exactly how they sound and how to improve. I encourage creativity and exploration as opposed to just raw mechanics. This vitally important for any musician to flourish.
Background
I am a drummer and percussionist who has been playing for over 20 years. I hold a master's degree in music from NYU and am an active composer, producer, and singer as well. I teach music theory, ear training, and music history as well.

I charge $5 per 10 miles of travel. Cancellations within 24 hours of lesson will not be refunded.

I met Brian in Portland, OR years ago. I had a great experience working with him. He understood the fundamentals of drumming very well. He was incredibly skilled on the drum set and this inspired me to become a better drummer and musician. I can't recommend this teacher highly enough.
Brian was a wonderful teacher! He was very polite and patient. I could tell he was passionate about the subject as he often shared different music for me to listen to in addition the assignment he gave me. I'm a slow learner but he always found a way for me to understand the content.
