I love to get to know my students as individuals first. Their likes and dislikes, their interests and passions, and their hopes and dreams. What they share with me is very important in the way I incorporate what they tell me into my lessons. I can work with any curriculum and use any materials necessary as long as I can see the light bulb of understanding go off in my students' minds! I consider myself a guide on the side and not aI have taught sage on the stage. I learn as much from my students as they learn from me and then some! I always go back after lessons to reflect on what worked and didn't work so that I can improve my approach. I don't ever expect perfection only improvement and a can do attitude! If my students want to learn that's all I need to inspire me to go the distance with and for them!
I have taught over one hundred students in 4th grade in Greenwich, CT where I'm from. I started teaching K-5 in special education for a year before moving to a private school. After my son was born, I homeschooled him through 3rd grade and now work as a substitute teacher in preK-8th grade and as a Sunday School teacher. Altogether, I've been teaching for about a decade! My students have left my classes with a strong ability to express themselves in writing and with a strong ability to think creatively and to problem solve across all subjects. I believe in passing on a joy for learning and in preparing my students for a lifetime of learning!
I worked in a magnet school in Greenwich, CT for 1 year teaching K-5 special education classes. I moved on to co-teach a class of 20 girls in a prestigious, private school in Greenwich, CT for 5 years. After that, my family moved to Florida and I homeschooled my son from pre-K through 3rd grade. He is now in 4th grade at a private school for the first time and he loves it! He's an A student with a warm and fun personality. He is also a blue belt karate kid! While he's in school, I am a substitute teacher for grades preK-8th grade at a private school and I am a Sunday School teacher for the youth at our Church. Teaching is my passion!
