I definitely introduce the concept then try to make it more application then memory work to a process. Understand the logic and process as if breaking down a problem rather than memorizing formulas. Take my time and listen to the student for clarification.
I am a musician mainly for 30 years but was math teacher all through college teaching incoming freshman and other students needing remedial courses for their major. All levels and age groups we’re welcome and enjoyed breaking it down for them.
