I aim to teach in a way that encourages open communication and a deep understanding of materials. There are no stupid questions! I take my time to find explanations that work for my students. If that means I have to explain something 4 times, in 4 different ways, then that's what I do. I want all my students to feel comfortable asking questions and to leave our lessons feeling encouraged and confident in their abilities.
I am an English and Classics student at Emory University. I've been tutoring pre-kindergarten students through college-age students for four years now. I've specifically tutored reading, literature, foreign language (Latin), and ACT/SAT prep. I've taught groups of 3 children at a time, but I'm open to larger groups, as well.
I charge $30/h for lessons because I make my own lesson plans, tailored to my students' strengths and weaknesses. I create and design my tutoring lessons around constructive curriculums that I believe will lessen the need for tutoring over time. Remember, the goal of tutoring is to stop lessons eventually! I want to help my students arrive at a place where they no longer need me.
