English professor with a passion for bringing Pop Culture into Academic Writing. Writing is never boring with this North Carolina-based teacher.

Methodology

I cater my lessons to my students. I like to know their goals, their struggles, and their interests. My philosophy is that this is about YOU, and what you need. I am comfortable working on everything from nitty gritty grammar to the essay writing process to analysis of magical realism or nordic noir. I love to learn and I whole-heartedly believe you can teach me something as much as I can teach you.

Background

I am an English professor with experience teaching and tutoring students from 5th grade through the university level. My primary interest is working with high school and college-aged students, because I like showing that writing is a tool they can master for THEIR purposes. Writing is a skill and it opens doors, no matter the path you envision for your future career.
I have had extensive experience working with First Generation college students as well as some experience with English Language Learners. These experiences have led me to a greater understanding of what skills high school and early college/university students need to hone for success in more advanced courses.
