About the lesson
My teaching method is to ask my students to write for 15 minutes in any style they are most comfortable with and I follow that task with a discussion period, usually also 15 minutes, and help students clarify if their writing falls into a particular style, such as a comparison essay, or a narrative essay, or if it is undistinguishable. I then ask my students to begin again, using one sentence from the first writing as a beginning and write to a particular style of their choice. I offer reading suggestions and often read aloud

I am a retired social worker and teacher with a diverse background in many subjects. I currently write every day, including memoir, long fiction, essays, and poetry. I follow the advice by published authors and write every day. I have taught Freshman Composition and Journal writing in community college and also hold a Lifetime Certificate for Psychology in Maricopa County. I worked for twenty years in the field of counseling and social work.
