English teacher/tutor with over ten years of experience and two Masters degrees seeks to help students with basic English skills or college-level reading and writing.

Methodology

I ama certified English teacher and tutor who holds two Masters degrees--one in English Literature/Creative Writing and one in Literacy. My approach to teaching is casual and student driven. I first assess the student to see what level he or she is at in the particular program he or she is taking. Then I design a curriculum to help the student reach his or her goals. lessons are prepared and then conducted online in 30 to 45 minute segments.

I am an English teacher and tutor with over ten years experience teaching grades 5 through college freshmen. I have taught English at its most basic level up through college level. I hold two Masters degrees--one in English Literature/Creative Writing and another in Literacy.

Courses: 7th and 8th grade English Language Arts. Designed curricula and lessons in accordance with NYS Standards; prepared students for ELA examinations. Performed classroom management. Maintained contact with parents regarding student performance. Met with special education personnel to modify lessons and tests for special needs students.

1998-1999 and
September 2003-January 2001 Instructor of English: Western Suffolk B.O.C.E.S

Courses: 11th grade English Language Arts Enrichment Laboratory; 11th grade regents English; 12th grade English. Designed curricula and lessons for high school students participating in occupational education programs; Language Arts Enrichment Laboratory course was focused on improving writing, reading comprehension and analysis skills; prepared students for the 11th grade ELA regents examination; consulted with occupational education teachers to integrate language arts skills into curricula; regularly guest taught in occupational education classes to instruct students in the performance of occupationally-related writing assignments: reports, proposals, business letters, resumes, cover letters.
