I’d say that my mentorship style is conversational and process-oriented. I think that first building a rapport and relationship is essential and fosters and environment where conversations can be honest and generative.
In addition, I tend to be process-oriented. I think that the product of an essay can offer a chance for introspection and get students reflect about who they are, what they value, and why they hold those values. I would encourage my mentees to understand their motivations behind their essays as well as to be as methodical as they can and and treat brainstorming, writing, and revisions each as an essential part of the essay-writing process.
