Every student is capable of reaching higher levels than they strive for

Methodology

Excellent tutoring/teaching skills. Operate under the belief that every student is capable of mastering mathematical concepts with proper instruction and examples. My teaching skills have brought students up 2-3 grade levels (from D to A) in one semester of tutoring. Students need to understand solution strategies/techniques and master then rather than trying to follow examples that may or may not apply to the problems they are trying to solve. Willing to sit with student until they demonstrate ability to solve homework problems independently at each tutoring session. Teaching experience ranges from adjunct instructor at two community colleges in Illinois to graduate teaching appointments at both Penn State University and Purdue University and one year of independent tutoring in Delray Beach, Florida.

Background

I have taught for 7 years at the University level as a graduate teaching fellow with full responsibility for my students. Courses ranged from remedial math classes all the way through Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations and Probability Theory. I have taught both adults and college students at the community college level for two years where courses included Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus. Over the years, my students fared much better on departmental written examinations than students in the same course but different sections taught by tenured faculty.
