Methodology
I select my teaching materials and methods based on the age and experience of the student. I have experience using several different piano methods such as Alfred, Bastien, and Faber and Faber. Music theory, repertoire development and technique are all practiced and emphasized during each lesson. I also encourage my students to select pieces they enjoy. I have a couple sheet music sites where I can find music of their choice, at their appropriate skill level. And most importantly, I want each student to have a positive experience and develop music appreciation while having fun along the way.
Background
I have a bachelor degree in music education from the University of RI and a master degree in teaching in special education. I have taught general music for over 17 years and private piano lessons for over 20 years.
