Providing students with feedback is vital to help students improve their skills and retain knowledge. I always integrate components that allow me to evaluate students in a way that gives them an insight into their strengths and weaknesses. I like to provide feedback about how to exploit their potential and about how to work with their areas of opportunity. I especially like to help students improve their conversation skills by focusing on talking about topics that they are interested in.
I have worked as an English as a Second Language for 3 years teaching writing, listening and speaking, grammar, conversation, and conversation courses. My classrooms have ranged in size between 2 to 30 students. I have seen many of my students improve in the skills previously mentioned, with some of them achieving things like high scores in standardized tests such as the TOEFL. I have also helped students prepare for successful job interviews.
OVERVIEW
I hold a master’s degree in creative writing (a bilingual program) from The University of Texas at El Paso and a bachelor’s degree in history and social studies from the same institution. Teaching has allowed me to witness other people's learning process and broadened up my ideas to help others take charge of their own learning. As an English instructor, I am always interested in witnessing the flexibility and nuances of language and helping people fill their linguistic gaps.
