About Maranda
Hi, my name is Maranda Benton, and I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Education with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I have experience working with students as a substitute teacher, paraeducator, and behavioral therapist, which has helped me support children with different learning styles, needs, and personalities. My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and personalized because I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable, supported, and confident enough to ask questions.
I specialize in helping elementary and middle school students with reading, writing, math, homework support, study skills, and building academic confidence. My goal is to make learning feel less overwhelming by breaking concepts into smaller, manageable steps and helping students truly understand the material. I am professional, dependable, and passionate about creating a positive learning space where students feel capable and proud of their progress.

My approach as a tutor is patient, supportive, and personalized to each student’s needs. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying again without feeling judged. I like to break concepts down into smaller, easier steps and use examples, visuals, guided practice, and real-life connections to help students understand the material instead of just memorizing it.
A typical lesson would start with a quick check-in to see what the student is working on, what they feel confident about, and what is confusing them. From there, I would review the main skill or assignment, model the steps, and then guide the student through practice problems or reading/writing activities. I also like to ask questions throughout the lesson to make sure they are truly understanding the concept. At the end, I usually do a short review of what we practiced and what the student should continue working on.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my background in education and my experience working with children in different classroom settings. I have experience substitute teaching, working with students one-on-one, supporting students with different learning needs, and helping children build both academic skills and confidence. I am currently studying education, so I bring both classroom experience and current teaching strategies into my tutoring.
My lessons are best for elementary and middle school students, especially students who need support in reading, writing, math, homework help, study skills, or general academic confidence. I can also support students who need extra patience, structure, encouragement, or help staying focused during learning.

My rates are based on the type of support needed, the student’s grade level, and the length of each session. I offer tutoring for reading, writing, math, homework help, and general academic support. I am happy to work with families to create a consistent schedule that supports the student’s learning goals.
A typical session can be scheduled for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 1 hour, depending on the student’s age, attention span, and academic needs. My goal is to provide high-quality, personalized support while keeping communication clear and professional with both students and families.
My standard tutoring rate is 20 per hour. I offer sessions for reading, writing, math, homework help, and study skills. Rates may vary depending on session length, subject area, and whether the tutoring is ongoing or a one-time academic support session.
