I’m currently taking statistics tutoring with Mayank, I’m just going to share the high expectations I had before paying his seemingly reasonable rate per hour then share what I actually received…
-Expectations:
1. Receive a great lesson from a knowledgeable person based on his extremely strong educational and professional background.
2. A tutor who slightly takes into consideration his students comprehension of what is being taught and encourages active participation during specific portions of the lecture.
3. Get a refresher on some mathematical & Calculus (1-3) related material that are necessary prerequisites for successful completion of my current statistics course whenever it pops up & I request him clarify some old stuff for me.
4. That the tutor will go a couple of minutes over on time until his final point was made.

️ The above 4-points are what I expect in a good tutor, below is what I got with Mayank
1. His educational background is great and impressive qualifying him to give lessons on my requested subject, however, he has far exceeded competence & has mastered the art of teaching & instruction.
2. New topics are broken down & presented in a bite-sized digestible fashion while at the same time giving the birds-eye Meta view of the topic as a whole.
3. Not only encouraging but DEMANDING participation by frequently asking and assessing current comprehension of every single idea learned and challenging any incompetence on the students part and motivating them to do better.
4. Customized homework problems based on what was learned in the days lesson to solidify the new presented material that’s created then delivered approximately an hour after the session.
5. Extremely fast response time whenever I there is a question outside of our lessons.
6. The refreshers I needed on mathematical concepts specifically previous Calculus related topics I had forgotten are presented by him (Mayank) as a lesson in of themselves.
7. He went over 30 minutes on our scheduled class time until the final point was taught and the topic was comprehended.

There are so many other points I could add but the main point is if he teaches your subject you need TO GET HIM before his teaching time slots are taken by someone else who decided to get serious about their education and hire Mayank as their teacher.
I’ll be honest, if you want a regular tutor who just gives the lessons and moves on without much regard to your comprehension DO NOT choose him, you won’t be satisfied and there are plenty of tutors out there who just want to make a quick buck and who charge slightly less per hour & are not fully qualified to mentor on the subject, BUT…
