As an elderly retired teacher I like to start my lessons with action verbs and proceed with naming objects. In Spanish most letters are easy to pronounce while others are mainly acquired with frequent use. More advanced students can use movies with subtitles to increase word recognition. Newspaper reading is usually reserved for advanced students.
I have a bachelor's degree in English, Spanish and History from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. Taught esl in the public schools and Spanish to adults and corporate students in Puerto Rico. In MA worked as a Spanish teacher.
