I recognize that all students have different expectations of what they want to gain from taking music lessons. Expert musicians will always agree that learning the fundamentals of music theory first is critical to have a foundation to build your own personal style upon. I like to move as rapidly as a student is capable through the fundamentals and incorporate practical techniques as early as possible that students can use to explore their personal style and begin expressing themselves through their music. I require all students to dedicate part of their learning experience to music theory and reading musical notation.
I have been playing music for over 20 years and worked as a recording artist for several labels. I began to teach music theory and guitar at the Romeo-Bates Conservatory while gaining my Ph.D. in Chemistry. As many people know, music is tremendous in its capacity to promote creative thinking, encourage cognitive development, and coordinate fine motor skills. I have worked with children as young as 5 years old and with adults undergoing cognitive or physical rehabilitation.

Brandon tutored me in General Chemistry all the way back in 2009 at UCSD Oasis Center. He is excellent at breaking-down difficult concepts and making sure I understood how to apply what we studied to the test. Brandon taught my second quarter organic chemistry laboratory class and everyone wanted to take his class.
