Methodology

After interviewing the student, we decide together. We may read and analyze, write and analyze, play games, or use worksheets. I like to use materials that reflect what the student is interested in, like art or sports. For adults in business, we practice writing emails or product descriptions.

Background

I have been a teacher, writer and editor for much of my adult life. I have taught classroom English to K - college, and have had many private students. I also have been a copy editor and writer for magazines and local newspapers. I've been published in English and foreign magazines.

Susan 's resume

Profile

New to Indiana, I am an English teacher and tutor, copy editor and writer. Having lived and worked in Prague, Czechia, for over ten years, I bring a broad spectrum of experience working with ESL students from kindergarteners to professional business people, and writing and editing for several publications. Now repatriated and starting over in yet another new city, I am looking for meaningful work as either a writer, proofreader, or language tutor. My former students included a Georgian playwright and short story author who wanted to finesse his work to smoother English, a Czech actor whose aspirations were to speak English without an accent, and a Czech Oscar winning cinematographer who wanted to be able to communicate perfectly with native English speaking actors and crew. My writing includes interviews with social justice advocates, and restaurant owners from around the globe living and working in Prague.
