After getting to know a little about the student, I have the ability to develop a study plan that suits his learning style. Once the plan is in place, I can teach the student how to develop study habits that will improve his performance in the subject. I help the student build confidence and to have a positive attitude when it comes to learning something new instead of giving up. I am dependable, trustworthy and my main concern is to help the student reach his goal(s).
Throughout my career, I have been known as a exceptional Elementary (K-6th) Middle / High School tutor and a motivator. I believe it is important to understand the different learning styles and strengths that students bring to the classroom. One of the hallmarks of my teaching philosophy is the implementation of small group work to formally assess students. I have used strategies such as Jolly Phonics and Words Their Way to tailor instruction of folktale comparisons for English Language Learners.

I cannot say enough about what this tutor did for my daughter. Before tutoring, she scored only in the 15th percentile on the SSAT; she had been told not to answer questions if she was unsure and left a majority unanswered. After tutoring, she was in the 54th percentile. The key component to this improvement was this tutor. Her approach was even, gentle, encouraging, and instructive. He focused on how to take the test as much as getting the correct answers. For the verbal, he centered on word roots. On the reading paragraphs, he sought out the central themes. The math was a much-needed refresher course for my daughter. I saw her grow in confidence and competence with every hour of tutoring. Conner was always on time, ready to go, and an excellent communicator. I will use this tutor ahead of time with my current 6th grader when it is time for her to take this test.

Ingrid is an excellent tutor. She has a wonderful rapport with children. Her ability to connect with my two kids and her talent at teaching simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics, are both truly superior. I recommend Michelle to you without reservation.
