I approach each lesson by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of individual students to provide a progressive and comprehensive course of study. Every student has a unique style of learning which makes them comfortable as new material is introduced. Discovering the method which works best for each student, helps them to have fun learning new music techniques so that they are able to begin playing music almost immediately. As an educator I may introduce a few familiar selections to determine the genre of music students like. This enables me to continue giving lessons which is enjoyable while at the same time incorporating more classical or contemporary works. Additionally, making practice fun and rewarding is essential.

I am the CEO of my own performing arts company. We have conducted Summer Camp programs from 2013 - 2016. For each of these years there has been a culminating performance which included music (vocal & instruments), drama, and dance. Also, over the past 6 years, with the exception of 2017, we have been able to help students successfully audition for Magnet/Specialized schools in the arts for high school and college. Students who have taken private lessons have been selected to be part of professional theatre (e.g. Lion King) as well as leading roles in community theatre works. Having produced and participated in professional productions over the years, has helped me to set up students to be successful in performing all aspects of Fine Arts before an audience. Working with the Police Athletic League Performing Arts division helped me to learn how to guide and prepare students who are interested in the social and/or professional benefits that come from being part of this type of community. It allowed me to see how young people can become open to experiences which build up their self-esteem, confidence, and help them find a voice to speak to other areas in their life through the vehicle of musical theatre.
