I enjoy using creative methods to teach - games, object lessons, flashcards, and even using silly situations to practice writing prompts. I understand that each student learns and thinks differently, so I like to ask each student how they best learn (kinesthetic, auditory, or visual), and then adjust to use tools that help them best. Additionally, it is always helpful to use a lot of repetition when learning a new language, no matter how a student learns.
I am a Youth and Family Studies graduate ('18) from Nyack College, who has lived in Spain for 1.5 years and the Dominican Republic for 5 months. I am fluent in Spanish (reading, writing, and oral expression). I have been working with children in different settings for 10 years, including youth work for 3 years and associate teaching in a 4th grade classroom as well as a 1st grade ESL classroom. I have worked one-on-one with students struggling in Spanish class, as well as Spanish speakers looking to learn English. Additionally, I have been a translator for parent-teacher conferences. I love working with people of all ages, and all levels of Spanish. It brings me great joy to help others learn and build confidence in their second-language!
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy for free. However, if the student cancels in under 24 hours, they will be required to pay the full lesson.

I worked along side Crista and was able to see first hand how great she is with students of all ages. She is able to connect so well with everyone she meets creating such a welcoming environment. I would recommend Crista to anyone wanting to improve their Spanish.
Crista is a wonderful, caring person. We taught together for half a year at an international school, and I got to witness her thrive. Crista is really great with people and this translates into her work with students. She has served as a mentor/ leader/ coach in many different capacities, and she leaves a lasting impact wherever she goes. I highly recommend Crista as an ESL tutor, as she is patient, encouraging, creative, and passionate. Other strengths include: bilingualism, flexibility, high accessibility, and great time management. Crista has a unique way of presenting material that is relevant to the needs of her clients. She is knowledgeable about a variety of topics.
While I had the pleasure to work with Crista for only a few months, it was plenty of time to see her servant heart and caring spirit for the students she assists. Her friendly demeanor and warm personality sets students at ease yet still maintains a good sense of professionalism. I'd 100% recommend Crista as a Superprof to anyone who is looking to improve his or her English.
