I taught high school Spanish from levels 1 up to AP for six years and still enjoy teaching students to help them succeed. I structure my lessons based on the individual needs of the student and have materials and study aids to help with vocabulary, verbs, grammar, tenses, writing composition, pronunciation, and reading comprehension. As a teacher, I know that students often need more one-on-one help after class. I will help prepare the student to communicate effectively in the language while making the lesson engaging.
I taught high school Spanish I - AP at Wake Christian Academy for six years. I enjoy watching students apply their knowledge in conversation when they graduate from high school and travel to various Spanish-speaking countries. I am a fluent Spanish speaker and have various resources to help Spanish students of all levels succeed. I tutor high school students and college students enrolled in 100-300 level Spanish courses. I received my BA in Spanish at Wheaton College and my Professional Educator's License from N.C State University.
My AP students preformed well on AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam and were able to pass into 300 level courses in college. For the past three years, I have been an AP Spanish Exam grader for the Interpersonal Speaking and Presentational Speaking sections of the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam. This experience has helped me as I prepared my students for the AP Spanish exam.

I had Mrs. Lauren Chriscoe as a teacher (two years ago) for about a year and a half- and, without exaggeration, I can attest to her excellence as a teacher and her extreme talent as a teacher of Spanish. I first met Lauren because she taught my Spanish 2 class. I entered the classroom after Spanish 1 somewhat able in my Spanish ability and left her classroom after a year of Spanish 2 as a highly conversational confident Spanish speaker. Additionally, she filled in at my school for a quarter as my Spanish 3 speaker had to leave abruptly- she continued the old teacher's lessons with ease and even successfully taught the class on concepts we had learned but needed heavy review of.
One thing I remember most about Lauren is the one-on-one help she provided to me and the rest of the students in my classes. Even though my Spanish 2 classroom had around 25 students, I was certain that I could count on Lauren to explain a concept in an easy-to-digest fashion that made large classroom learning a very personal, one-on-one learning experience. She is kind, considerate, and enthusiastic in the classroom.
Lauren is extremely thorough in all facets of her teaching; whether I need extra help with conjugation of Spanish verbs, or was having difficulty memorizing vocabulary, her clear guidance made learning an easy, even fun, task. One fun thing Lauren would do is implement songs in her lessons- one song, in particular, we learned that helped greatly with Spanish irregular verbs. This is just one, of the many cases, where Lauren made learning engaging, fresh, and fun.
I recommend Lauren because of many reasons, but, most of all, I recommend her because of her versatility as a teacher. Because of her vast knowledge of both the Spanish language and of Hispanic culture, she is able to teach almost any level, from beginner to intermediate to advanced learners. Her slow, but engaging pace is well-suited to any learner, no matter the skill level or interest in Spanish.
I had the pleasure of having Mrs.Chriscoe as my teacher for four years. She made learning fun with songs, fun activities, and even pretty fun projects. She is a super caring teacher and would always do her best to help her students, especially if she noticed they were struggling. I even had the pleasure of going on a mission trip with her and she is just a wonderful person all around. I highly recommend Mrs.Chriscoe as a Superprof as she will make the content fun to learn, and you will always have a good time with her.
Lauren is a wonderful teacher and human being. She taught many years at Wake Christian Academy and she did a fantastic job. Many of her AP students had scores of 5 on the AP Spanish Language and Culture test. I have seen her teach; her lessons are concise, her assignments are fun and she develops inspiring relationships with her students. She has created many unique activities that are structured, effective, and efficient. I highly recommend Mrs. Chriscoe as your tutor.
Lauren is very dedicated to help students understand and grasp language concepts. I've personally worked with her for 5 years and observed her passion and love for her students. I would highly recommend her for this opportunity.
Lauren was my teacher for Spanish II through AP Spanish in high school, and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of every class. Lauren is an incredible teacher— enthusiastic, encouraging, patient, and able to adapt to a variety of learning styles. If there was a advanced concept or vocabulary set I struggled with, I knew that Lauren had plenty of resources and helpful tips that made learning the language stress-free and fun. I not only learned the grammar and vocabulary, but was challenged with practical applications for the language that had me confident speaking with native and other fluent Spanish speakers. I felt incredibly prepared going in for the AP Spanish Language exam, and made a 5 (the only AP exam I made a perfect score on out of all the AP exams I took) thanks to Lauren’s help with exam prep! I would most definitely recommend Lauren as a Spanish teacher and tutor, and am thankful for her helping me both find academic success in Spanish class and reach an advanced level of fluency in the Spanish language!
Profe Chriscoe was my high school Spanish teacher for 2 years in both Spanish 2 and AP Spanish. She is wonderful at explaining all the different aspects of Spanish, especially in regards to grammar which can be hard to learn at the beginning. She uses many different teaching techniques to ensure comprehension for all different types of learners. I'm sure that tutoring one on one will only increase her wonderful proclivity for teaching. She is very encouraging, and one cannot help but want to do well for her :). I don't think I would recommend anyone else as a tutor for Spanish, especially in regards to grammar and verb tenses.
Lauren "Profe" is a great teacher! She taught my Spanish class in high school. Profe taught with visual, verbal, audial, and tactical examples. Everyone in my class was able to learn one way or another. We learned about the culture instead of just the language - we even got to try the food!
I definitely felt a personal connection with Profe, and I know many of my friends did as well. She coached my soccer team and was one of the leaders for my grade so I felt like I could talk to her about personal matters. She has a very sweet personality and is so very kind.
Lauren was my high school Spanish teacher, and she is the best! I am now a Spanish double major at a state school, and I am a fluent Spanish speaker at my place of work. My Spanish skills, that I learned through Lauren, have helped me land many a job! Lauren is patient, confident, considerate, and incredibly well informed!
Lauren was my AP Spanish teacher back in high school (which was five years ago). She did an amazing job at having us truly delve into the culture and use the Spanish she was teaching us. She loves to interact with the students and have the students interact with each other. She is able to explain the grammar in an easy to understand way. Lauren wasn't expecting perfection the first time we did anything but instead would show us how to use the opportunity to improve. She is also passionate about the language and different cultures within the Hispanic/Latino community. She inspired me. I continued to pursue Spanish at my university after graduating and now I have a B.A. in it and use it daily in my job.
Lauren was my high school Spanish teacher even up to AP Spanish. She knows the language well and loves the culture. She uses activities and exercises to teach rather than just lectures, so I learned in a way that I actually retained the information and can actively use it. She cares about her students and their success and is willing to work with you. Lauren is a caring and sweet teacher.
