About Stephanie

Do you or your child need extra support with reading, writing, SAT, phonics or accent modification?

I would love to help! I have over nine years of experience working one on one with students from kindergarten to college.

I graduated from Assumption College with a 3.9 GPA in English Literature and a minor in Secondary Education, and I have a Masters degree in Special Education from Fitchburg State University. I am a nationally certified CRLA Master Level tutor and am certified in the Wilson Reading program. With a TOFL/TEFL certification and training from LVGW, I am especially qualified to work with English Language Learners on reading, writing, vocabulary, and accent modification.

I currently work as a writing tutor at Mount Wachusett Community College and a tutor for the Disability Services Center at Fitchburg State. I love working with adults and college students, and I also know exactly how to prepare a a high school student for college writing.

I look forward to helping you or your child gain the confidence and skills needed for academic success!

My teaching methodology varies depending on the student and the subject matter. I provide students with challenging lessons, but always scaffold the material as much as necessary for the student to complete the assignment successfully. Students always need to demonstrate mastery over course material before moving to a new topic, and material from past lessons are consistently reviewed.

Details

First thirty minute meeting is free! We will discuss the goals and needs of the student and set up a plan for future lessons. After that, each 60 minute lesson is $50. Lessons longer than 60 minutes are discounted.

For best results, phonics and accent modification lessons should be frequent-- ideally 2-3 times a week. I can make special arrangements on price with students taking more than one lesson a week.
