Inform me what you would like to review ahead of time. I will freshen up on the information and create a strategic approach to addressing the concepts. Most students learn differently, so the exact method of teaching will vary from student to student. My goal is for the student to thoroughly comprehend the information on a level where they could teach the information back to me, and answer multi-part interwoven concept based questions.
Hello! I am a senior at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. I am in pursuit of my Bachelor of Arts in Biology, but have already completed all required science classes for my degree. I have hundreds of research hours in Biology and Chemistry through my university, and through McGovern Medical School where I have spent three summers in Cardiac Metabolic research under a Forbes top 25 cardiologist. I have pursued my own independent investigations involving chlorophyl extraction in invasive ragweeds prevalent throughout Southern Texas. I am currently in pursuit of publication in coordination with UTHealth. I have experience as an inpatient volunteer at MD Anderson Cancer Center, so patience is one of my virtues. I previously acted as a tutor for middle school students, teaching English and basic Mathematics. I also taught as a Zen Do Kai Martial arts instructor to students aged 4-17, so I have experience teaching younger children. I have completed my MCAT Examination, maintain a competitive GPA, and am currently in the application cycle for medical schools entry year Fall 2020. I know how to study, I know how to teach, and I am youthful, which usually makes students feel much more comfortable. If you are struggling in the sciences, biology chemistry, biochemistry, genetics, organic chemistry I, then I am your guy.
Rates my vary depending on distance of travel if the student would like an in-person tutor at a location of their choice. Prices my vary by student or on a case by case basis. All prices will be communicated ahead of time and there will never be any surprises.

Relevant Experiences
MD Anderson Cancer Center In- Patient Volunteer
My inpatient volunteering provided me with invaluable experiences. Not only did I care for patients, but I also cared for their families. This taught me that my role often extends well beyond the individual patient and affects their family and loved ones as well. These terminally ill patients are usually drained and exhausted from treatments and therapy. As a result, I frequently conversed with the siblings, guardians and spouses of patients. Most patients and family members were extremely open and wanted to talk about their emotions and feelings during a time of uncertainty and anxiety. This event shows my interpersonal skills.
Cardiac Metabolism- Bench work and Patient Visits
Dr. Heinrich Taegtmeyer at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School is a Forbes Top 25 Cardiologist with over 400 publications. I was granted the opportunity to work with Dr. Taegtmeyer over multiple summers on both a personal and professional level. In his lab, which is focused on cardiac metabolic research, I assisted medical students over the summer in their independent investigations, where the meticulous nature of lab work was emphasized. I observed multiple heart perfusions performed by members of the research team. I reorganized every chemical reagent in all of Dr. T's labs, and created a master document with the specific lab, location, and details of over 1000 chemicals and hundreds of antibodies. I received proper HIPPA certification and created a composite digital file of scanned records and documents encompassing over 500 of Dr. T's active, inactive, and deceased patients, a project which took nearly three months. I am dedicated, hardworking, and experienced throughout the science realm.
President of Ramallah Youth Group of Houston
The youth group would meet biweekly and plan fundraisers for the Ramallah Society of Houston. We organized youth group events, basketball tournaments, lock-ins, and dinners to stimulate the youth to be involved with the community. I was in charge of overseeing all operations, leading the meetings, helping to organize and run events and fundraisers. This event is significant because it shows that I am ethnically diverse and culturally aware, which is a very important quality. My presidency also shows my leadership skills, and my willingness to undertake long-term commitments.
Teen SOYO Group Leader
As a youth group leader, I was assigned a group of 5 kids ranging from 6th-8th grade. These students were usually struggling academically, and I served as a free tutor to them every Sunday for about an hour. Tutoring topics would range from basic mathematics to reviewing and editing a short essay that was written.
Zen Do Kai Karate Instructor and Martial Arts
I am a formal martial arts instructor. I taught students aged 4-17 years old on the Zen Do Kai curriculum, which involves a range of skills from self-defense, sparring, weapon self-defense and knife to knife combat. Not only did I teach the curriculum, but I also helped to reinvent and improve the curriculum based upon my martial arts knowledge. My teaching strategies, patience, and the ability to mold my teaching style to fit a variety of different skill levels and attitudes are the most significant attributes that I gained from this experience.
Amrbosia trifida Research
Ambrosia Trifida is a common ragweed and invasive species prevalent throughout southern Texas. I calculated LUX levels using a light meter at various locations to determine if sunlight levels affected chlorophyll concentration. After undergoing a meticulous chlorophyll extraction procedure described in the literature, absorbance values were recorded and compared for samples in differing LUX regions. After multiple trials and statistical analysis, my investigation showed no significant correlation between LUX levels and chlorophyll concentration.
Beta Glucuronidase Research
Beta-glucuronidase is a hydrolytic enzyme present in E. coli that is responsible for cleavage of carbohydrates. The goal of this investigation is to determine the relationship between this enzyme and effective metabolism in the bacteria. This research experience is significant, because I work in a small team supervised by the leading investigator. Meticulous technique and attention to detail are required. This event further expands on my scientific knowledge and experience.
